3. April in April and the Extraordinary World (2015)
Set in Paris in 1941, this surreal animated film offers an alternative history of the world, where none of the technological advances of the past century ever took place. There’s no electricity, radio or TV, and everything runs on steam power. In this world, teenaged April (“Avril” in French) goes on a quest to find her scientist parents, who have vanished mysteriously, along with many other scholars and inventors. 4. Arya Stark in Game of Thrones
HBO’s epic series features many fierce, fearless females, but Arya is among the youngest, and, in Season 8, has become the show’s truest hero, since her brave fight against the Night King ensured the survival of the whole of the Seven Kingdoms.
