Stream 5 episodes of The River for free

If you’ve not yet caught on to the drama, intrigue and action in the local telenovela The River, now is your chance.

What is The River about?

The thrill-a-minute telenovela sees worlds collide in spectacular fashion. One side of the river is home to those who will go to any lengths to keep their wealth; the other by those who have little to show for their hard work.

Like all the best telenovelas, The River is a show that keeps the twists and turns coming hard and fast, so it’s almost impossible to predict what will happen next. But at its heart, The River is a story about family and the links between us. Is blood really thicker than water?

Who is who on The River?

Lindiwe Dlamini is a mining magnate who is probably the most ruthless woman we’ve ever seen on South African TV. Played by Sindi Dlathu, Lindiwe will stop at nothing to keep her wealth, power and influence – even if it means murder.

Perhaps the most relatable character of all is Tumi (Larona Moagi), a headstrong young woman who was abandoned by the river as an infant. She has been raised by Thato and Malefu Mokoena in Refilwe, which is on the “poor” side of the river. When Tumi’s adoptive father, Thato, a mine worker on one of Lindiwe’s diamond fields, discovers something that could save not only his family but also Lindiwe’s company, his life is suddenly in danger. What will Tumi do to avenge her father?

Then there’s Cobra, the first-born son of Thato and Malefu. Played by Presley Chweneyagae, Cobra is bitter and angry about his station in life, and cheats and thieves his way through the world. His plots and plans are so shocking that we can’t wait to see what he will come up with next.
