Brains vs Brawn vs Beauty is set on the idyllic Cambodian island of Kaoh Rong, and is known as the most punishing season of the competitive American reality show because of the record number of medical evacuations that took place during filming. The castaways were initially divided into three tribes of six, depending on their most dominant attribute – intelligence, athleticism or attractiveness.

It might seem obvious which tribe would be most successful, but, as always, Survivor is full of surprises, alliances and jaw-droppingly unabashed backstabbing. We won’t give anything away here, but let’s just say that the winner wasn’t necessarily the strongest member of their tribe…

Like all seasons of Survivor that came before, this one is hosted by Jeff Probst, but it threw in a curveball towards the end of the show, giving one contestant the power to remove a member of the jury – the finalist who won the final rewards challenge got to make this call, and it undoubtedly gave them a massive advantage in the later stages of the show, as you’ll see in the two-hour finale episode.
