Looking for something new to watch? Two very different series are launching First on Showmax this January.
Each episode of HBO’s Room 104 is a self-contained short story that looks at what happens behind the doors of a single room at an airport motel. From horror to comedy and the downright absurd, each episode features new characters, eras and tone.
Experimental and creative, LA Times said, “This eclectic series is the answer for those burned out on all the binge-watching. Check in or out when you please. No commitment required.” While Vox.com described it as “An often thrilling look at what TV can be when it looks to its past and finds ways to update old formats for the future.”
Room 104 launches on 15 January.
This Swedish drama series isn’t your typical detective show. The dark and chilling murder mystery sees detective Eva Thörnblad (Moa Gammel) return to her hometown to investigate the disappearance of a boy she thinks may be linked to the disappearance of her own daughter, seven years earlier. Don’t expect an open and shut case though, as strange things start to happen – and it all seems connected to the forest where ancient Norse myths may be real. Fans of the Scandinavian version of The Killing and The Bridge should add Jordskott to their must-watch lists.
Jordskott S1-S2 launches on 29 January
