The River: Zweli lies to the law

We’ve learned that we should expect anything on The River. The last week has taught us that Lindiwe Dikana is one hell of tough cookie (not that we didn’t know this already). Oh, and we’ve also learned that Cobra is probably one of the most disappointing men we’ve ever seen on television. In case you’re wondering what we’re on about, we’ve got a recap of last week’s edition of the show.

Zweli lies in court to protect his wife

We were all cheering after Zweli finally saw through his wife. After hearing different witnesses speaking about what kind of a woman his wife is, and painting her as a murderer, Zweli saw the light and told his wife that he wants nothing to do with her. He was angrier after she asked him to be her alibi and tell the court that they were together on the night of Thato Mokoena’s murder. He told her where to get off and for once, it seemed like Lindiwe would pay for all her crimes. However, things took a different turn after a man came out of nowhere claiming that Lindiwe was being framed for murder – and he even had “evidence”.

By the way, this has Lindiwe written all over it. Remember her story about “white monopoly capital”? This sure looks like another desperate (or genius) plan from the mining mogul. And, to our surprise, this was more than enough to convince Zweli that his wife is innocent and led to him lying under oath, telling the court that he was with Lindiwe on the day Thato was killed. “I never took my eyes off her,” he told the court. He even added that Zolani was there.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you get away with murder!

Cobra chooses Angelina over Paulina

We never thought we’d see the day where Cobra takes Angelina’s side. It’s currently happening and it’s all too sad to watch. After Paulina was arrested for assaulting Angelina, Cobra didn’t even try to hear his wife’s side of the story. Instead of bailing her out of jail, the newlywed took his mistress’ word without even questioning her version of events. While his wife is stuck in jail, Cobra and Angelina are playing happy family. She’s even managed to turn him against his own sisters.

What’s even worse is that she has Cobra eating out of the palm of her hands knowing very well that the child she’s carrying right now is not his. But we don’t feel sorry for Cobra because he truly deserves this after the way he’s been treating Paulina, the woman he claims to love.

Things are definitely going to get more interesting. You don’t want to miss out on any of the action so make sure that you tune into The River on Showmax. New episodes air 15 minutes after the DStv broadcast.
