The River: Lindiwe is finally awake!

The last two weeks have been so hectic for viewers of multiple-SAFTA nominee The River (it received a whopping total of 18 nods for this year’s awards, including for Most Popular Telenovela). We’ve been so stressed, trying to figure out if Tumi is still alive or not, and whether Lindiwe will ever regain consciousness. Well, the pieces of the very difficult puzzle are slowly coming together and some of our questions have been answered in the last couple of days.

Lindiwe’s crime haunts her

While it might seem like good news for her family that Lindiwe has finally woken up, it doesn’t seem like it’s that pleasant for her. The mining mogul, who shot herself after realising that she might have killed her daughter, opened her eyes for the first time on Friday. The first thing on her mind, however, was not her loving husband and children, but rather an image of herself burying Tumi alive.

As expected, her family came rushing to the hospital after discovering that she was awake, and while most of the Dikanas are happy about the news, Zolani just can’t hide his hatred for her. Zweli and the kids’ excitement was evident when they got to Lindiwe’s room, but Zolani rushed in and reminded her about her horrible crime. It seems he will never forgive his aunt for what she did to Tumi. We can’t wait to see how the rest of this story unfolds.

Did the Mokoenas confirm Tumi’s death?

It’s been over two weeks since we watched Tumi being buried alive by Lindiwe. Since then, we haven’t seen or heard from her. We’ve obviously all just assumed the worst. After a body was discovered at Khanyisa Diamonds last week, the Mokoenas were immediately notified and they quickly rushed to the mine. When they got there, they were greeted by the sad sight of a body in a body bag. Cobra and Malefu obviously had no choice but to look inside, and they had the most heartbreaking reactions.

They didn’t scream Tumi’s name or anything like that, but they were visibly upset. Malefu couldn’t handle what she had just seen and was comforted by her son. We now can’t help but wonder if that was a confirmation of Tumi’s death. We will just have to wait for the next episode of the show to find out if we should start mourning or not.
