Got Zexit fatigue? Watch Point of Order on Showmax now

Update: Point of Order is no longer on Showmax. Find your next binge in the full series catalogue here.

Now that the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has decided to ask President Jacob Zuma to resign, or for him to be recalled, there are one of two things that could happen from here – he can either agree to resign (I know, right), or, if he refuses, a motion of no confidence will be presented to the National Assembly in Parliament to have him recalled. The EFF already has a date to present their motion, but only for the 22nd of February – though there is a chance they could be heard this week. The National Assembly will then vote on whether or not to pass the motion. If the majority votes to pass the motion, Zuma, along with his Cabinet and Deputy Ministers, will be forced to resign.  (There’s also the possibility of impeaching him, but it’s a much longer process, and doesn’t seem to be on the table at the moment.)

Had enough of this already?

Time for some comic relief?

Point of Order, the 2017 SAFTA winner for Best Game Show, is now streaming on Showmax, with new episodes available weekly. It’s inspired by the shenanigans in the South African Parliament – a comedy panel show that allows SA’s top comedians and special celebrity guests to talk politics like real MPs, perhaps with a little more sense and sensibility.

Point of Order is produced by Both Worlds, best known for the two-time International Emmy nominee, ZANews’ Puppet Nation, so you know it’s top-quality local entertainment.

Just as in Parliament in real life, Point of Order has a Madame Speaker – Tumi Morake – and she chairs the MPs in the Government, the Opposition and their special guest MPs. The MPs change in every episode, but always include top SA comedians, such as Deep Fried Man, Loyiso Gola, Nik Rabinowitz and Sne Dladla. The special guest in episode 1 is Khanyi Mbau, who is named as Minister for Champagne Affairs, and guest MPs in subsequent episodes include DJ Fresh, Zapiro and Phumzile van Damme.
