Binge-watch iNumber Number on Showmax
- First co-production between Showmax and Mzansi Magic
- Spinoff from award-winning cop film
- Star-studded cast includes SAFTA winners Presley Chweneyagae, Ronnie Nyakale, Zola Nombona and Sonia Mbele
- Fresh from hit run on Mzansi Magic, where series trended repeatedly on social media
All 13 episodes of iNumber Number, Showmax’s first co-production with Mzansi Magic, will be available to binge-watch for the first time on Showmax on Thursday, 5 October 2017.
In the hit crime and corruption drama, SAFTA-winner Presley Chweneyagae (Tsotsi) and SAFTA-nominee S’dumo Mtshali (Isibaya) reprise their roles as cops Shoes and Chilli from Donovan Marsh’s award-winning film of the same name.
In the gritty spinoff series, Chilli infiltrates an infamous crime family to bring down an untouchable patriarch, while criminals are trying to intimidate Shoes into withholding evidence. When these cases collide, the cops find themselves at a crossroads where their brotherhood bond will be tested.
SAFTA winners Ronnie Nyakale, Zola Nombona and Sonia Mbele; Standard Bank Young Artist winner Mncedisi Shabangu; and Israel Matseke-Zulu (formerly known as Israel Makoe or as CityPress prefer “SA’s ultimate bad-ass”) co-star.
iNumber Number trended repeatedly on social media during its run. Thickly layered, uncompromising and relentless, the series shows why the feature film won four SAFTAs in 2015 for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Editor, not to mention the Audience Award at the Jozi Film Festival and Best Screenplay at the Africa International Film Festival. The film was also screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Universal Pictures optioned the remake rights.
Quizzical Pictures, who produced both the film and the TV series, have won the SAFTA for Best TV Drama for the last six years in a row. They’ve also won a Peabody and a Rose d’Or, not to mention nominations at the International Emmys and Monte-Carlo Television Festival, among other accolades.
iNumber Number is one of three Showmax originals scheduled for the next few months; it will be followed by Waterfront, Showmax’s co-production with kykNET, on Thursday, 12 October 2017, and Tali’s Wedding Diary, with SuzelleDIY star Julia Anastasopoulos, in December 2017.
